Financial Aid for Students & Trainees

Once you have settled on studying hairdressing you will naturally want to start investigating what if any financial aid and allowances you are entitled to as a student in Australia. The allowances will vary depending on each individuals personal circumstances. Please note that guidelines below are subject to change and you should visit the Centrelink website to get more information for your personal situation.

Austudy – Financial aid for full-time students and Australian Apprentices aged 25 years or over.

Abstudy – Financial aid for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Australians who are studying an Australian Apprenticeship.

Youth Allowance – Aimed at full-time student’s aged 18 – 24 who are studying full time or Australian Apprentices who are between the ages of 16 to 24.

Fares Allowance – Helps with the cost of traveling to and from your place of residence and the institution where you are studying.

Student bank loan – You may be able to receive a student bank loan to help with the cost of your school fees.
